If you have searched the internet (including Google My Business, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and discovered that your company has no online reviews (good or bad). Not a single online review regarding your company’s product, services or skills. It could be worse; people could have left a bad review. However, it is still not the best position for your company.
The next steps for you include searching to see what people are saying about your competitors or other companies in your industry or service area that you would like to emulate.
Are your competitors receiving good reviews online?
If yes, then you have a clear issue. Online reviews are a significant factor in customers’ purchasing journeys (others are price, convenience, etc.) when comparing companies.
If a potential customer sees a company with a range of excellent reviews vs a company that no one is saying anything about, unless one of the other factors becomes so overriding, the lack of online reviews is going to impact the customer’s buying choice.
Do reviews have SEO value?
Online reviews do affect the way search engines ‘rank’ you, so it may eventually reach a point that you no longer even become part of the customers’ buying choice because they don’t know about you.
However, it is worth noting that some companies never receive online reviews from customers/clients. There are several reasons for this, including;
- Issues surrounding of confidentiality or sensitive nature of the service.
- Your client base demographic.
- Your company has such a small digital footprint and social media presence that it was too hard for the client to find the option to review you.
- Your clients have never been asked.
